Why is metroEV paying you to charge your EV?

metroEV Rewards is supported through Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR), a federal program designed to reduce emissions and expand charging networks across Canada.

When eligible EV chargers are connected to the metroEV platform, charging activity generates value through carbon credits tied to EV adoption and clean energy use.

Instead of keeping all of those benefits internally, we are reiterating our commitment to reduce the cost of electric vehicle ownership.

FAQs

Who can participate in metroEV Rewards?

Condominium unit owners, condominium corporations, and commercial businesses may be eligible to join the EV charging rewards program, depending on their charger setup and location.

How do earnings work?

You earn CAD 0.10 for every kWh delivered through an enrolled charger.

When are payouts made?

Payouts are issued once per year by direct deposit after the applicable credits have been processed.

Is there a minimum payout amount?

Yes. Annual earnings must reach at least CAD 100 before a payout is issued.

What happens if a charger loses connection?

A charger must stay connected to the internet to remain eligible for earnings. If it stays offline for too long, participation may be suspended or ended.

Can I enroll in a third-party charger?

Yes, if the charger is compatible and you have the proper authority to operate and enroll it.

Are approvals required before installation?

Can I cancel my participation later?

Yes. After the initial term, you can cancel with written notice. Some exceptions may apply, including a property sale, a move, or a material breach.

What happens if the program changes or ends?

If the program changes or ends, metroEV may update the terms or stop the earnings portion of the program, with any final payout handled according to the agreement.

Does metroEV track charging data?

Yes. metroEV securely collects and owns all charging activity data generated through connected charging stations on the metroEV platform, including the quantity of electricity supplied, session timing, and energy consumption data

metroEV's ownership of Charger Data is a regulatory requirement, not a commercial choice. Under the Clean Fuel Regulations, a charging-network operator must own the data collected through its platform in order to generate compliance credits. Those credits are the source of the revenue that funds your earnings. Without data ownership, metroEV cannot legally generate credits or pay you.

Your personal information is handled separately and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Charger Data shared with ECCC or its authorized verifiers is limited to what is required for compliance purposes and does not include your name or contact details.

Are metroEV Rewards available for single family homes?

Not at the moment. metroEV plans to expand the EV charging rewards program to single family homes in the future. Stay tuned for program updates.
