Funded by the Government of British Columbia, this program helps MURBs (multi-unit residential buildings) like condos, townhomes, and apartments become EV Ready—from planning to installation.

EV Ready Plan Rebate
An EV Ready plan is a professional document developed by a licensed electrical contractor and/or electrical engineer. It outlines how your building can be upgraded to provide each residential unit with at least one EV Ready parking space.
To qualify for the rebate, the plan must include specific documentation and requirements.
✔ Covers 75% of plan cost ($3,000 max., while funding lasts)
✔ Required before applying for infrastructure rebates
Top-up incentives may be available in select municipalities.
Note: An approved EV Ready plan is a prerequisite for receiving the EV Ready infrastructure rebate.

EV Ready Infrastructure Rebate
To execute the EV Ready plan, electrical infrastructure upgrades are typically required. This includes installing electrical and communication systems necessary for future EV charger installations.
✔ Up to 50% of eligible costs
✔ Max. $600 per parking spot
✔ Must follow an approved EV Ready plan
✔ Covers installation, permits, utility upgrades & signage
A single project can receive a maximum of $120,000, while funding lasts. Top-up incentives may be available in select municipalities.

BC Hydro EV Charger Rebate
The BC Hydro EV Charger Rebate Program offers rebates to stratas, multi-unit residential buildings and workplaces across B.C. to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Learn more about the BC EV charger rebate.

What type of EV chargers are eligible?
To qualify for the rebate, your EV chargers must:

Be Level 2 (208V or 240V)
-
Be new, purchased (not leased), hardwired or plug-in
-
Feature J1772 or NACS J3400 plug types
-
Be networked and internet-connected for at least two years
-
Have certification: cUL, ULC, cETL, CSA, or cQPS
-
Be installed after BC Hydro pre-approval
-
Single port stations count as one charging station, dual port stations count as two charging stations

How much funding can I get?
✔ Multi-unit residential buildings: $2,000 max. per charger, up to $14,000 max. per building
✔ Businesses: $2,000 max. per charger, up to $14,000 max. per workplace
✔ Rebates apply to purchase, installation, permits, network fees, signage, and more
Note: Tesla products are ineligible for rebate as of March 12, 2025.
What are eligible costs covered by the rebate?
The rebate can be applied to a wide range of costs, including:

Labour and construction for installation and conduit

Site assessments (electrical capacity, panel reviews, design options)

Electrical permits and related documentation

Parking and electrical design required for the install

BC Hydro Home EV Charger Rebate
Install an EV charger at home and get money back from the BC EV charger rebate—plus extra funding for smart chargers and power management devices.
Who is eligible for the BC Hydro EV charger rebate?
To be eligible for the home rebate, your EV charger installation must meet the following:

The home must be located in British Columbia
-
The home must have been built at least 6 months prior to charger installation
-
The charger must be wall-mounted at your home and installed with an electrical permit
-
Rebate is not available for 240V outlet-only installations (no charger)
What type of EV chargers are eligible?
Chargers must meet all of the following criteria to qualify:

Included on the rebate-eligible EV charger models list
-
Purchased (not leased) from a Canadian supplier
-
Certified for use in Canada (cUL, ULC, cETL, CSA, or cQPS)
-
Level 2 (208V or 240V) with a NACS J3400 or SAE J1772 plug
-
Brand new – not used or refurbished
-
Either plug-in or hardwired model
Note: Tesla charging stations are not eligible if purchased after March 12, 2025. Earlier purchases may still qualify.
How much funding can I get?
✔ Up to $350 for an eligible Level 2 home charger (50% of total cost)
✔ Additional $250 top-up for an eligible smart EV charger
✔ $200 rebate for installing an EV power management device
✔ Rebates apply to single-family homes, row homes, and duplexes
✔ Combine with local municipality top-ups (where available)
Note: BC Hydro will review your application and documents. If approved, your rebate will be processed within 90 days of submission.

EV Charger Home Installation

Smart Charger $250 Top-Up Offer
BC Hydro is offering an additional rebate of up to $250—covering up to 50% of eligible costs—for the installation of a qualifying smart EV charger at a single-family home.
Smart chargers connect to the Internet, typically through your home Wi-Fi, enabling you to:

How to Apply
There’s no separate application needed for this offer. Just use the standard online rebate application. If you're installing a qualifying smart charger, the $250 top-up will be automatically added to your base rebate—up to a total of $600.

Peak Saver Program
Earn $50 per year by enrolling your eligible smart charger in BC Hydro’s Peak Saver Program.
This program helps shift your EV charging to off-peak hours, reducing strain on the power grid—and saving you money in the process.
How it Works
Once enrolled, BC Hydro will automatically adjust your charging schedule outside of high-demand periods. It’s seamless, and you stay in control.
Not all smart chargers are compatible.
