Who is eligible for EVCP?
Funding is available for a wide range of applicants, including:

Businesses (retail, offices, commercial properties)

Condominium corporations & property managers

Municipalities & public institutions

Non-profits & industry associations

Indigenous communities
- Others, on a case-by-case basis
How much funding can I get?
The Alberta EVCP rebate will cover up to 46% in project funding, which can be up to $100,000 per location. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
What types of projects qualify?
To qualify, your EV charging installation must be a new installation or an expansion of an existing installation (not replacing an existing installation)
If construction work has already started or EV charging equipment has already been ordered, the project will not qualify for funding.
What are the project requirements?

Permanently mounted and installed in Alberta

Networked and CSA/ULC certified
-
Installed by a licensed electrical contractor
-
Compliant with Alberta’s Safety Codes Act and local bylaws
-
Equipped with approved plugs (e.g., J1772, CCS, NACS, CHAdeMO)
What type of EV chargers are eligible?
Projects must include the purchase and installation of Level 2 (3.3 kW to 19.2 kW) or Level 3 (20+ kW) EV chargers.

Charge and earn
Earn rewards every time you charge your EV
With metroEV Rewards, eligible customers earn 10¢ per kWh charged through connected metroEV chargers. The more you charge through eligible metroEV chargers, the more you can earn.
- 250 kWh charged/month ~ $25 in rewards
- 400 kWh charged/month ~ $40 in rewards
- 600 kWh charged/month ~ $60 in rewards
What’s the Alberta EV Charger Rebate?
Under the Electric Vehicle Charging Program (EVCP), you can get back up to 46% of your total EV charger installation costs, depending on the type of charger installed.

| Level 3 DC Fast Charger (20-49 kW) | Must include one or more of the following charging connector types: Combined Charging System (CCS), North American Charging System (NACS), or CHAdeMO rated for a minimum of 20 kW power output. | Up to $15,000 per unit |
| Level 3 DC Fast Charger (50-99 kW) | Must include one or more of the following charging connector types: Combined Charging System (CCS), North American Charging System (NACS), or CHAdeMO rated for a minimum of 50 kW power output. | Up to $50,000 per unit |

Maximum Funding Limit
The maximum EVCP funding available for a single location is limited to $100,000, while a single applicant may receive up to $300,000 in total funding. These caps are in place to promote fair and geographically balanced distribution of EVCP resources.
Applicants may submit multiple applications and secure funding for several projects across different locations. Alberta Municipalities reserves the right to modify the funding limits per location and/or applicant based on program demand and evolving market conditions.
