Program Overview
The EV Charger Incentive is a $7M program funded by Natural Resources Canada to provide financial support for organizations to install more charging stations across Canada, with a focus on Ontario projects.
Who Can Apply
Legally registered Canadian organizations — including businesses, municipalities, multi-residential buildings, Indigenous communities, non-profits, and academic institutions.
How Much Funding Can You Get?
The funding covers up to 50% of total project costs, or 75% for Indigenous organizations, for eligible chargers.
EV Charger Requirements
Chargers must be permanent, new, connected, and certified for use in Canada.
Eligible Projects
Eligible sites include public places, on-street parking, workplaces, multi-unit residential buildings, and light-duty vehicle fleets.

EV Charger Incentive Program
This limited-time EV Charger Incentive Program provides funding for multi-residential buildings, businesses, municipalities, Indigenous communities, non-profits and other organizations. Learn more about the program below.

How Much Funding Can I Get?
Charger Type | Max. Rebate |
Level 2 (208/240 V, 3.3–19.2 kW) | $5,000 per connector |
Level 3 (20–49 kW) | $15,000 per charger |
Level 3 (50–99 kW) | $50,000 per charger |
Level 3 (100+ kW) | $75,000 per charger |
EVIP provides up to 75% of project costs for Indigenous organizations and communities.
Note: Level 2 chargers are eligible per connector—not per station—so applicants are able to receive rebates per Level 2 connector.

Who Can Apply?
To apply, you must be a legally registered or an incorporated Canadian entity, including:

Condo corporations and multi-residential buildings
-
Municipalities and utilities
-
For-profit and non-profit organizations
-
Indigenous communities
-
Academic institutions and more
Installations must be located in Canada, with Ontario projects receiving priority during this funding round.
Important: Applications are now open, for 30 days only.

Eligible Projects
Your EV charger project must be for one of the following:
-
Public places (e.g. libraries, arenas, shopping malls, churches)
-
On-street / curbside parking
-
Multi-unit residential buildings (3+ units)
-
Workplaces (where employees charge during working hours)
-
Light-duty vehicle fleets (e.g. taxi fleets)
Note: Installations at private residences are not eligible.

EV Charger Requirements
Your EV chargers must be:
-
Permanently installed
-
New and purchased (not leased)
-
Approved connector types (J1772, J1772 Combo, etc.)
-
Connected EV Chargers (cloud/network enabled)
-
Certified for use in Canada (CSA, UL, etc.)

Important Dates & Deadlines
Applications open: June 23, 2025
Applications close: July 23, 2025 (Applications are now closed)
Project must be completed by: October 31, 2026
Reimbursement issued within: 8 months of project completion and document submission
