ChargeON Program
Take advantage of the ChargeON Program rebate and bring EV charging stations to your public property. Learn more about the program below.
What is the ChargeON Program?
ChargeON Ontario is a provincial EV charging rebate that funds the installation of publicly accessible EV charging stations throughout the province to support the rising number of electric vehicle drivers.
The ChargeON Program aims to:
- Reduce range anxiety
- Support EV adoption
- Enable long-distance EV travel
- Build a robust and affordable charging network throughout Ontario
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible for ChargeON funding if you own or operate a site in Ontario that will offer 24/7 public access to EV chargers.
Eligible organizations include:
- Municipalities
- Businesses
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Public sector organizations
- Indigenous communities or businesses
How much funding can I get?
The ChargeON Program will fund 25-75% of eligible project costs, with a maximum of $1 million per project. If your project exceeds one million dollars, a single applicant may submit multiple applications.
Note: Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) has the right to cap the number of approved projects per applicant.
Financial support is based on the location and type of site. To find out how much funding you can get, see the table below.
| Type of site | Northern Ontario | Rest of Ontario | Sites open less than 24/7/365 |
| Indigenous Community or Business | 75% | 75% | 25% |
| Municipalities with populations below 170k | 75% | 75% | 25% |
| Businesses, not-for-profit corporations, and broader public sector | 75% | 50% | 25% |
| Municipalities with populations above 170k | 75% | 50% | 25% |
What are the requirements for EV chargers?
To be eligible for the ChargeON rebate, there are minimum installation requirements for Level 2 and Level 3 chargers. Whether you choose to install Level 2 or Level 3 chargers, we can help you figure out the best charging setup for your commercial site that meets program requirements and EV demand.
EV Charger Requirements:
