ChargeON Ontario

Take advantage of the ChargeON Ontario rebate and bring EV charging stations to your public property. Learn more about the program below.

What Is the ChargeON Program?

ChargeON Ontario is a provincial EV charging rebate that funds the installation of publicly accessible EV charging stations throughout the province to support the rising number of electric vehicle drivers.

The ChargeON Program aims to:

  • Reduce range anxiety
  • Support EV adoption
  • Build a robust and affordable charging network throughout Ontario, especially in underserved and rural communities
Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for ChargeON funding if you own or operate a site in Ontario that is:

  • Located in a community with a population of 170,000 or less, or within any Indigenous community in Ontario
  • Will offer 24/7 public access to EV chargers
  • Falls into one of these eligible sectors:
    • Municipalities
    • Private businesses
    • Non-profit organizations
    • Indigenous governments or businesses
How much funding can I get?

The program consists of two funding streams:

Community Sites Stream
A competitive grant program open to private businesses, municipalities, non-profits, and Indigenous communities.

Government Sites Stream
Focused on installing EV charging stations at provincial government properties like highway rest stops, Ontario Parks locations, and carpool lots.

What are the requirements for EV chargers?

To be eligible, sites must include at least one of the following charger setups:

  • Four (4) Level 2 ports

  • One (1) Level 3 port and one (1) Level 2 port

  • Two (2) Level 3 ports

Connector Type Requirements:

  • Level 2 chargers must use the SAE J1772 standard connector

  • Level 3 chargers must meet the following:

    • A minimum of 25% of connectors must be Combined Charging System (CCS)

    • Remaining connectors may include CCS, North American Charging Standard (NACS), and/or CHAdeMO
